Risks of Rhinoplasty - Recovery Period of Rhinoplasty

One of the most prominent features of anyone is their nose. Not everyone is born with a perfect nose neither and because of this many people turn to a cosmetic surgeon to undergo a rhinoplasty procedure. Regardless as to whether your nose is too big or too small, or even if it is too wide, turned up, comes to a point or looks as f it had been broken in the past, a rhinoplasty procedure can fix most of these.

For starters, you will need to determine just exactly what you want your nose to look like. Many times people will take a magazine ad to their surgeon to show them what they want. From this point you will then need to decide whether you want an open or a closed procedure.

The difference between an open and closed procedure has to do with whether the surgeon is allowed to expose the nasal passageways. The open rhinoplasty although having a longer recovery period often offers the patient the best results for the simple fact that the surgeon has a more readily access to the underlying tissue and cartilage of the nose. The closed procedure although having the quickest recovery time produces the lowest results and can also cost more because the surgeon will have to spend more time working in the cramped spaces of the nose. Regardless of your choice though, it is important to remember that since it is your nose, the final decision as to whether it will be an open or closed procedure is entirely up to you.

Due to the complexities of the nasal passageways, there is many different risks associated with a rhinoplasty procedure of which the most common is nose bleeds and although these are usually fairly simple to stop by simply pinching your nose, immediately following your procedure you will not be able to pinch it.

It may be possible for your rhinoplasty procedure to be covered by insurance if you can show that it will also be repairing a breathing obstruction of the nasal passageways.
